An MOT test is the annual legal check confirming your vehicle meets minimum roadworthiness and environmental standards. It’s required from three years after first registration, and every year after that, covering brakes, tyres, lights, steering, suspension, emissions and structural condition.

Covers cars, motorcaravans and small vans up to 3,000kg. This is the most common MOT test, checking brakes, tyres, lights, steering, suspension, emissions and structural condition.

We’ll explain exactly what needs fixing and provide a quote before any work goes ahead. If it’s not roadworthy, you can still drive it away for repair or to a pre-booked MOT elsewhere, but not for general use.

No, it’s illegal to drive without a valid MOT, except when driving to a pre-booked MOT test or to a garage for repairs.
