Covers cars, motorcaravans and small vans up to 3,000kg. This is the most common MOT test, checking brakes, tyres, lights, steering, suspension, emissions and structural condition.

When does my car need its first MOT?
Three years after the date of first registration, then every year after that.
What happens if my car fails its MOT?
We’ll explain exactly what needs fixing and provide a quote before any work goes ahead. If it’s not roadworthy, you can still drive it away for repair or to a pre-booked MOT elsewhere, but not for general use.
Can I drive with an expired MOT?
No, it’s illegal to drive without a valid MOT, except when driving to a pre-booked MOT test or to a garage for repairs.
How long does an MOT test take?
Around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the vehicle and how busy we are on the day.
Can I book my MOT early?
Yes. Booking up to a month before your MOT expires keeps your renewal date the same, even if the test is done early. You can even book your next MOT for next year without putting down a deposit.
